Gilroy, Santa Clara County
Gilroy calls itself the Garlic Capital of the World. Much of the garlic eaten in the United States is grown, dried or packed in and around the city, and on warm days the smell drifts across Highway 101. Will Rogers joked that Gilroy was the only town where you could marinate a steak by hanging it on the clothesline.
